Who we are
DroneHacks (Stanford Horizons) is a student drone hackathon operated by the Stanford Robotics Club, a student organization at Stanford University, in association with the Stanford Robotics Center, held November 6–8, 2026. This policy covers the website at stanfordhorizons.com and dronehacks.groups.stanford.edu, the application, the participant portal, and our text-messaging program. Questions go to hello@stanfordhorizons.com.
What we collect
What you give us when you apply and, if admitted, when you accept your spot: your name, email address, mobile phone number, university and program, the answers and links in your application, and — for admitted participants — a student ID, a passport photo page, a signed waiver, travel bookings and receipts, and a headshot.
We also record the ordinary technical details of using the site (IP address, browser, time of a request) when you sign an agreement or change a setting, so that those actions can be shown to be yours.
What it is used for
- Reviewing your application and telling you the outcome.
- Running the event: registration, teams, travel reimbursement, meals, safety.
- Verifying that the person who arrives is the person who was admitted.
- Contacting you about your application, your spot, and the event.
SMS / text messaging privacy
If you consented to text messages, Stanford Robotics Club (DroneHacks) may send you SMS with time-sensitive event information: deadlines, schedule changes, room locations, and safety notices. Message frequency varies; expect roughly 5 to 10 messages in total between admission and the end of the event, rising during event weekend.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. Mobile numbers and SMS consent are used only to send you DroneHacks messages, through our messaging provider acting solely on our behalf.
Message and data rates may apply. You can stop at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by turning text updates off in your participant portal. Reply HELP for assistance, or email hello@stanfordhorizons.com. See the SMS Terms.
How long we keep it
Application and event records are kept for the event and a reasonable period after it, for reimbursement, reporting to sponsors in aggregate, and running future editions. Identity documents are deleted after the event. You can ask us to correct or delete your information at any time by emailing hello@stanfordhorizons.com.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and, for anything affecting how we contact you, tell you directly.
